Anthony's History with TraumaAnthony became a psychologist for selfish reasons - he wanted to fix himself.
While on a student exchange program in Central America’s third world Spanish speaking country, Honduras, 18 year old Anthony's lung unexpectedly collapsed. After being rushed to the nearest third world hospital, Anthony underwent an extremely traumatic emergency operation where he was treated without any anaesthetic and was hospitalised for 6 weeks – a near death experience. As a result of this, Anthony developed a crippling phobia of medical procedures. He could not go near any sort of medical facility without having a severe traumatic response. Having needles would cause Anthony to pass out. Anthony is now proud to say that he has successfully treated his phobia. Anthony is a psychologist, dad, author and public speaker. He has written 9 books that focus on fear, anxiety, phobias, and increasing confidence in adults and children. He is often consulted by the media and regularly speaks to sporting and social clubs, schools and professional institutions about managing fear and becoming more confident. |
